JUST moving what I wrote on the discord here. It was a bit long so concerned it may get deleted....
I certainly hope the rumors of 20% eco boost are incorrect. Not only would that not give the players reasonable grind times it would be a clear indication that the devs don't really understand the importance of the issue at hand.
It could be that the devs want to go slow as to not overshoot the best balance point (Or the lowest they can move it up and stop the complaining)
Let's do some math for the 20% eco boost....
A player who earned 300k per day used to take about 80 days to grind enough silver to buy a tier 10 ship.
(24million÷300k=80days)
Now with 20% boost
300k × 1.2 = 360k
24million ÷ 360k = 66.67 days
80 - 66.67 = 13 days.
20% boost shaves off 13 days to grind the silver for a tier 10.
BTW To grind out the silver for a tier 10 in 30 days (still a long time but starting to get reasonable) we would need an eco boost of 266.67%
**please note the above numbers are not to grind silver from tier 1 to 10 those numbers are to grind silver to buy JUST 1 tier 10 ship.
If the devs want a reasonable solution to high tier grinds they could do the following.
In addition to the 20%
(if that is in fact what we are getting) reduce the price of a tier 10 ship by 50%.
Reduce the price of a tier 9 ship by 40%
Reduce the price of a tier 8 ship by 30%
7 by 20%
6 by 10%
That's it. Done.
Grind times are still long enough that people will still buy gold and warchests. But for those of us who spend money on premium time and ships the grind will also be reasonable. For completely free players it would also be in the realm of possibility.
(If you increase premium ship earnings by 40% above tech tree ships You'd also sell more premiums. Premium time could also be likewise made more valuable)
The exp grinds should remain untouched imo. Grinding up a line exp wise is already reasonable and it ensures many players will have enough skills to go to the next tier and not be overwhelmed and ineffective.
Before anyone calls the pay to advance (Premium time, premium ships) pay to win. Let me point out that owning premium ships and time ARE NOT GUARANTEES TO WIN they are barely guarantees to advance quicker atm. Let's hope that changes.
